Baptism

BAPTISMS – For Infants and Children Under the Age of 7, time and dates must be arranged through the church office by calling 954-941-7647

Requirements

Child:

  • Original state birth certificate

Parents:

  • Should be registered, active members of Assumption Church or another Catholic Church
  • If not a member of our church, the parents must provide a letter of permission from their pastor to baptize their child outside of their parish
    • If you are not a registered member of a Catholic Church, you must request this letter of permission from your local Catholic Church
  • Must attend pre-baptism classes and provide Certificate of Completion
  • We must have approval from both parents allowing the child to be baptized

Godparents/Sponsors:

  • At least 1 godparent must be a Catholic who have been baptized and confirmed and should be at least 16 years old.  They should be practicing Catholics, going to Mass on Sundays and receiving Communion regularly. If married, they must be married in the Catholic Church.  Godparents must be registered, active member of Assumption Church or another Catholic Church (Per Canon Law, only one godparent needs to meet all of the requisites – not meeting these requirements the candidate may be a witness only)
  • If not a member of Assumption Church, must provide a Certificate of Eligibility from their parish stating that they are active and qualified to serve as godparents/sponsors.
  • Must attend pre-baptism classes and provide Certificate of Completion
  • If married, godparent must have been married in the Catholic Church
